Praia da Sereia, also known locally as Waikiki, is one of the liveliest beaches on the Caparica coast. Famous for its beach bar scene, DJ events, and vibrant social atmosphere, it draws a young, energetic crowd that comes for both the surf and the parties. The nickname 'Waikiki' reflects the beach's relaxed, fun-loving spirit.
The surf here is typical Caparica beach break — multiple peaks over a sandy bottom with shifting sandbars. While it may not be the best wave on the coast, the combination of decent surf and excellent social scene makes it hugely popular, particularly in the summer months when the beach bars are in full swing.
Surf Conditions
Sereia picks up west to northwest swells and produces standard beach break peaks. Waist to head-high is ideal. The peaks shift with the sandbars, so some days are better than others. East to northeast offshore winds help clean up the faces for more rideable waves.
Summer and autumn are the best times, not just for surf but for the full experience — warm water, beach bar vibes, and enough swell to keep things interesting. Winter brings bigger waves and fewer people, but the social scene quietens down. The shifting sandbars can create rip currents on bigger days.

Getting There & Facilities
Accessible by car or bike along the coastal path. The Transpraia beach train (currently closed since 2019) may reopen in future (June-September) or by car along the coastal road. Parking at the beach access points.
The beach bars are the main attraction, with food, cocktails, and regular DJ events during summer. Lifeguards patrol from June to September. This is one of the best-served beaches for post-surf socialising on the entire coast.
